An index of where Knoxville and Knox County legal notices are published: Public Notice Tennessee, city and county agendas, planning cases and school board notices.

Last checked Oct. 17, 2026. This page is an index, not an official publication. Legal notices in Tennessee are published in newspapers and on government websites; Knoxville Local is not a newspaper of record, and nothing on this page replaces the official notice. Use the links below to read the notice itself.

Most legal notices that affect Knoxville, from rezoning hearings and city ordinances to foreclosures, probate and delinquent tax sales, are published in the newspapers that serve Knox County. The Tennessee Press Association collects them in one free, searchable place, Public Notice Tennessee, where you can filter by Knox County or Knoxville. City, county, planning and school bodies also post their own notices online.

Planning and zoning

Knoxville-Knox County Planning posts each Planning Commission agenda twice: a preliminary list three weeks before the meeting and a full agenda, with staff reports and maps, six days before. The next meeting is 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, in the Main Assembly Room. Written comments on a case are due by 12:30 p.m. the day of the meeting.

Schools

Knox County Schools posts public notices of board meetings and of gatherings where two or more board members may attend. Coming up: a two-day board workshop starting at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at Covenant Health Park.

Searching notices well

  • Search by street name as well as by owner name.
  • For rezonings, search the Planning file number on Planning’s site, then check the City Council or County Commission agenda for the final vote.
  • Save the notice and its publication date; the notice itself states any deadline.

What this means for you

  • A sign in your neighborhood or a letter about a hearing points to one of these notices. Find the original before the hearing date.
  • We report on notices that matter to many readers, but we do not reproduce them.
